Is lining the same width as curtain fabric?

Lining uses the same number of fabric widths as the face fabric. Lining is typically cut the same width but 2-4cm narrower on each side so it does not show from the front.

How much shorter is the lining than the curtain?

Lining is typically 2-3cm shorter than the finished curtain at the hem. It is set up 5cm from the curtain hem to hide the lining edge. A 3cm turn-up plus 5cm hem allowance at the bottom is standard.

What type of curtain lining should I use?

The formula

Lining drop = Curtain drop + 5cm (hem) + 8cm (heading)
